Asalamalaikum and hello dear reader! My name is Nida Sami! I am a practicing Muslim, accomplished banker, amateur baker, aspiring chef, newbie at home re-decoration…for now!! And to top it all off I recently got married to, you guessed it, Mr. Mazhar. I am living in Abu Dhabi, UAE with my husband. We have been busy being a newly married couple, getting to know each other and setting up house together.
I had a lot of interests and hobbies growing up but not food nor cooking ever featured among them. So it was quite surprising, even to me, how I stumbled upon cooking and not just any old cooking, but cooking with enthusiasm and passion that I didn’t know I had in me. Right off the bat I want to give credit to the two institutions that sparked and fuelled my adventures in the kitchen, respectively, Masterchef Australia – they helped me realise that I, Nida Sami, a banker, with no experience in the kitchen, could be a great cook, and Nigella Lawson – she is the reason I stand proud in my kitchen and sit deliriously happy at my dinner table for I have become a good cook thanks to her. And you guessed it, French fries, rather potatoes are my absolute favorite thing to eat!
With this blog I want to share with you my joy and delight at the things that go right in the kitchen and my little upsets about the things that go wrong – sometimes minor but other times disasters have and will continue to take place. Mostly, I want to share with anyone out there that is as scared as I was about entering the kitchen and getting dinner started that if I can do it so can you.
I hope you enjoy reading about my culinary adventures in the kitchen as much as I enjoy having them and then writing about them. In the meanwhile, Mr. Mazhar’s waistline will show the proof of how well I am winning his heart.
